Box under your Windows icons getting you down?

Have you ever been annoyed at Windows for putting boxes under your icons after changing your background? Well, some amazing advances in technology give you the power to fix that.

If you Google it, you’ll find there are 2 common fixes that sometimes work:

1. Go to your desktop, right click, properties, Desktop tab, then click "Customize desktop" at the bottom. Go into web, and uncheck "Lock desktop items". Click okay, then see if it’s fixed.

2. Go into start, right click on "My computer," go into properties. Go to the advanced tab, and click "Performance". Make sure "Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop" is checked.

If neither of those work, there’s one more thing you can try…

3. The format of the background image. Open your background up in paint, then File > Save As, and save as 24 bit bitmap. Now select the .bmp file for your background, and it should be smooth sailing!
